About us
I began sewing at the age of 11, and by the time I started high school, I was making all of my own clothes. I am fortunate to have a mother and grandmother who instilled in me the love for sewing beautiful things.
I have always had a love for infant clothing, and learned how to handsmock 26 years ago, when I was expecting my second child. Once my little girl was born, I purchased a 16-row Read pleater. I still use that same pleater today! My young daughters have long outgrown the dresses I made for them, and today, I am sewing for the next generation - my grandbabies!!
Tiny Stitches began in the fall of 2006, when my third daughter, age 15, was going through treatment for osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. During our many hospitalizations, I always had a dress with me, so I could smock the time away! Though the encouragement of Kelly's oncologist, I decided to start my custom sewing business, that I called Tiny Stitches. I chose the name because of my love of infant clothing and the delicate needlework that goes into creating them. In addition to handsmocked and heirloom clothing, I also create casual-wear for boys and girls and classic baby gifts.
